Plain and simple, the Bigfoot's performance is second to none.
The Expedition utilizes the Lycoming IO-580 engine which produces 315hp. It is the most powerful six cylinder engine that Lycoming currently produces. Based on its legendary IO-540 block, the Lycoming IO-580 is typically found on high performance aircraft like the Edge 540 (that competes in the Red Bull Air Races) and on Glassairs racing in Reno. Patty Wagstaff even flies with the IO-580 engine on her Extra 300S aerobatic aircraft.
The high horsepower Lycoming IO-580 engine coupled with an 84 inch, three blade Hartzell prop, makes the Bigfoot one of the most powerful pistons on the planet! Its low stall speed, large fowler flaps and impressive rate of climb, even at gross weight, enables this aircraft to be a genuine STOL aircraft. Its cruise speed of 160 knots combined with its impressive range makes the Bigfoot a true cross-country aircraft.
