Expedition E350 Receives An Early Christmas Gift From The FAA – U.S. Type Certification

PARRY SOUND, ONTARIO – December 23, 2008 – Found Aircraft Canada Inc, manufacturer of the Expedition E350, announces today that it has been granted type certification (TC) for the Expedition E350 by the FAA.  The type certification includes both day and night Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) for the E350 tricycle gear aircraft as well as the E350 with Aerocet 3400 and 3500L floats installed.

“Certification of the E350 is the culmination of over two years of development by our dedicated team of employees and suppliers who worked hard to make this day happen,” says Drew Hamblin, Expedition Aircraft’s Director of Marketing and Sales.  “The Expedition was designed to be the true meaning of a high performance, flying SUV and the undisputed heavy-hauler in its class.”

Arguably the most versatile piston aircraft in the world, the Expedition offers incredible STOL performance, and its rugged landing gear allows it to operate from short unprepared airstrips.  It has a full fuel payload of over 900 lbs, which means the E350 can carry four passengers up to 200 lbs each, and 100 lbs of baggage over 700 nautical miles. “That kind of flexibility in loading means that E350 owners will not have to choose fuel over friends when planning long cross-country flights.  The Expedition will do exactly what its name means: an extended journey undertaken by a group of people.” adds Mr. Hamblin.

Highlights of the Expedition E350 include:

  • Seating for up to five passengers
  • Four doors
  • Most powerful piston aircraft in its class* (315 hp)
  • Most powerful certified amphibious piston aircraft in production (315 hp)
  • Fastest certified amphibious piston aircraft in production (130 ktas)
  • Most useful load in its class* (1550 lbs)
  • Most useful load for a certified piston amphibious aircraft in production (1125 lbs)

  • Best take-off performance in its class* (only 1286 ft over a 50 ft obstacle)
  • Best water take-off performance in its class** (2010 ft over a 50 ft obstacle)
  • Shortest landing distance in its class* (1379 ft over a 50 ft obstacle)
  • Widest cabin in its class*/** (52 inches front and rear cabin)

*New certified fixed gear piston aircraft with four to six seats and a gross weight of over 3200 lbs
** New certified amphibious piston aircraft with four to six seats and a gross weight of over 3200 lbs

Production of the E350 commenced this month and first deliveries begin in Q1 of 2010.  Each aircraft is built to order with options including the new Garmin G600 glass panel and Forward Vistion's EVS-100 forward looking infrared camera.  The Expedition’s rugged construction utilizes a steel tube frame with both carbon fiber and aluminum skins.  All E350’s come factory ready for installation on both Aerocet 3500L straight floats or Aerocet 3400 amphibious floats.
